Originally American, I moved to the Isle of Man in early 2010 and quickly signed up for an allotment, began growing my own produce, and started learning about keeping honeybees. Though I’d made some simple beauty products before the move, it was only with more time that I was really able to delve into the world of handmade bath and beauty. Before long I was hooked on making cold-process soap and experimenting with adding natural colours, herbs, and essential oils to the recipes. It’s amazing what you can create using the palette and scents given to us by nature.
That first summer on the island I knew that I’d like to turn my love of making bath and beauty into a career and spoke to another producer to understand what was involved in the certification and business side of things. I spent the year and a half after that developing my soaps and my first Manx Beeswax products. In December of 2011 I finally took the plunge and decided I was ready to start selling to the public. Since then I’ve been a regular stallholder at the Isle of Man Farmers Markets and local events and I now stock my products at various local retailers as well as on this site.
My philosophy is simple – pure and natural personal care products are great for your skin, overall health, and the environment. Making and presenting them in a beautiful way makes them even more of a joy to use and I ensure that every product that I make reflects the idea of both ‘Lovely’ and ‘Greens’.
Lovely Greens aspires to create beautiful bath and beauty products with natural wholesome ingredients including rich oils, fragrant botanicals, and natural fragrance. I also avoid ingredients known to be tested on animals and all of my products are vegetarian or vegan. My other values include:
